SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The Wen Chang Project for the China National Oil & Offshore Corp required a Floating, Production , Storage & Off-Loading vessel (FPSO). GAI-Tronics won the contract to supply the required Telecommunications equipment on the Project. The scope of supply included the Public Address and General Alarm System (PAGA) System, Entertainment System, Sound Powered Telephone System, Talkback Intercom System and Industrial / Hazardous area Field Telephones that will be used on the installation.

The contract required the supply of various comprehensive methods of secure communications throughout the installation for all personnel working on the installation.

SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY

GAI-Tronics supplied the contract on a design, supply & commission basis. The FPSO required a monitored PAGA System that would be used to inform personnel on the installation of an emergency situation. This is achieved by the use of voice emergency paging announcements made from dedicated microphone access panels through the PAGA System. The system also has the capability to broadcast alarm tones across the installation.

The Entertainment System was supplied with a dedicated equipment rack housing the systems required satellite receivers. The supply of a 1.2 stabilised satellite dish enables the vessel to receive a clear satellite signal in rough sea weather conditions.

A Dedicated Explosion-proof Talkback communication system allows various locations on the installation to call back to a control console located within the control room. The control station can make either an all call or selective call to all stations on the system. A dedicated Intrinsically Safe Sound Powered Telephone System was also supplied, and the overall project was further complimented by the use of GAI-Tronics environmental Industrial / Hazardous area Telephones located around the installation.
