SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The Shell Na Kika Platform is primarily located for use in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Na Kika Platform required a dedicated PAGA System to be installed on
the platform.

GAI-Tronics proposed its Elemec plus microprocessor controlled
PAGA System for this project. A dedicated system was required that
enabled platform-wide distribution of both routine/emergency page
announcements and alarm broadcasts.

A system requirement was that the duplicated alarms were required for this system. The solution that was supplied to provide this functional requirement was to duplicate the control system each serving half of the required systems amplifiers. Effectively a duplicated system within the same equipment cabinet.

Due to the supply of two identical control systems for the duplicated alarm
requirement, coverage of the platform will be maintained should a single fault condition in either control unit. The audio is routed to the healthy control unit for PAGA/Alarm broadcast.

SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY

GAI-Tronics will design, supply and commission the required PAGA System.
The replacement system on the Na Kika comprises of a dedicated equipment
cabinet housing duplicated control units with remote access panels, certified
loudspeakers and beacons.

The equipment rack for the system houses the system control and monitoring facilities. This enables a secure means of informing personnel in the event of an emergency situation by use of broadcasting specific verbal instructions Platform-wide.

The system is also available for the broadcast of the Platform Alarms. The system is continuously and fully monitored for system availability. All loudspeaker cables are monitored for both open and short circuit conditions.
