SYSTEM OVERVIEW

GAI-Tronics Corporation won the award to design a Communication Management System Upgrade for the Cajun Electric Power Cooperative's Big Cajun II facility located in New Rhoads, Louisiana.

This project was the first step in a multi-phase initiative to upgrade the entire facility to SmartSeries® technology.

SYSTEM FUNCTIONALITY

The existing system consisted of approximately 600 GAI-Tronics Multi Page/Party® handset stations throughout the facility. In an effort to reduce maintenance and troubleshooting time and costs, the facility chose to migrate to the SmartSeries® equipment to utilise the system's ability to perform system health checks, and identify and report system faults.

Other desired features of the upgraded system included the ability to identify nuisance pages as well as to automatically adjust speaker output levels to remain consistently above ambient noise conditions.

The total plan consists of the purchase of over 500 SmartSeries® station, a SmartSeries® Control Cabinet with plug-in cards, possible fibre optic technology and associated maintenance and installation services.

This illustration shows the basic system layout for the Cajun Electric Power Cooperative Communication Management System. The GAI-Tronics SmartSeries® Control Cabinet will ultimately interface to the SmartSeries® field Handset Stations, and download pertinent system information to a printer for use by maintenance personnel.
